A Portrait of two Muppets

To celebrate the birthday of Jim Henson here's a picture of Bert and Ernie based on their picture that hangs on their apartment wall on Sesame Street.

I should also note that this is also the birthday of Steve Whitmire who currently preforms Ernie on Sesame Street.

While I was coloring this picture one question poped into my head:

If these two can get along despite all their differences why can't the rest of the world?

Maybe that's what Jim had in mind when he first sketched these characters over 40 years ago.
